Lewis Wilson Hensley, 63, of 20 Frontier Ridge Court, went to be with the Lord Thursday, October 6, 2016.
Mr. Hensley was born on September 24, 1953 in Waynesboro, a son of the late John Clarence and Elizabeth Madeline (Meeks) Hensley.
Lewis was a member of the West Waynesboro Church of Christ. He was a graduate of Eastern Christian College and later ministered for thirteen years throughout West Virginia, Maryland and Virginia. Lewis was a member of the VMI Civil War Round Table, the Sons of the Confederacy and he enjoyed studying history and was an avid historian and civil war enthusiast.
Surviving is a son, Joshua N. Hensley and his wife Summer of Oak Ridge, Tennessee; a daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Hensley of Stuarts Draft; two brothers, Hugh P. Hensley and his wife Lynda of Crewe and Dewey W. Hensley and his wife Laurie of Stuarts Draft; four grandchildren, Kyra Hensley, Abram Hensley, Dalys Hensley and Samuel Hensley; a dear friend and mother of his children, Mary A. Hensley of Stuarts Draft; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
A Celebration of life will be conducted 12:00 noon Thursday, October 13, 2016 at West Waynesboro Church of Christ by Pastor Phil Forehand. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and following the service in the Fellowship Hall.
Burial will be private in Augusta Memorial Park.
