Lewis Calvin Cash's Obituary

Lewis Calvin Cash, 85, husband of Anna May (McCauley) Cash, of 348 Abbington Road, passed away on Friday, June 19, 2015 at his residence.
Mr. Cash was born on January 20, 1930 in Augusta County, a son of the late Bradford Gold and Cyrilla (Vess) Cash.
Mr. Cash was a charter member of Memorial Baptist Church, a church in which he dearly loved, and he was a veteran of the United States Army serving as a Medical Technician. Lewis retired from DuPont after 40 years of service as an area Supervisor and Personnel Specialist and following his retirement, drove for Pony Express Courier Service and Home Health IV. Lewis spent the biggest part of his time away from work participating in an endless list of church activities. He also was an avid fan of Robert E. Lee High school sports teams and he loved helping people wherever he was in life.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Cash was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Charles Cash.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 64 years are four children, Cathy A. Hahn and husband Tony of Stuarts Draft, Chrissy L. King and husband Thomas of Salem, Lewis C. Louie Cash, Jr. and wife Luellan W. of Swoope and Ruth A. Fitzgerald and husband Shawn of Aurora, OH; nine grandchildren, Angie Hewitt, Josh Bruce, Mandi Newton, Leslie Moses, Ben King, Jeremiah Fitzgerald, Adam Fitzgerald, Deke Cash and Lindsey Cash; seven great-grandchildren, Whitley Morton, Chris Morton, Ashton Hewitt, Johnny Bruce, Madison Bruce, Talan Bruce and Leila Shifflett and two great great-grandchildren, Kayden Rohr and Dixie Morton.
Lewis, known by his family as Granddaddy Doo, had an unconditional love for people that was made obvious through his God given ability to tease and encourage any soul into knowing they were loved. His legacy will always be the displayed in the immediate smile that fills the faces of people who remember his fun-loving, and God honoring, spirit.
A Memorial service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, June 22, 2015 in Memorial Baptist Church by Pastor Temple D. Myers and Pastor Mark W. Jones.
The family will receive friends following the service in the Great Hall.
Burial will be private in Thornrose Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be Fred Lovegrove, Douglas Patterson, Roy Conner, Chuck Snyder and the Adult Mens Sunday School Class.
