Lena Margaret (Rexrode) Simmons Shifflett, 83, wife of Donald Wayne Shifflett of 504 3rd Street passed away Thursday, October 8, 2015 at her residence.
Mrs. Shifflett was born on April 23, 1932 in Doe Hill, VA a daughter of the late William Ernest and Dora (Simmons) Rexrode.
Lena was a member of the Grottoes United Methodist Church and retired in 1993 from A.S.R. where she was employed for thirty-two years as a line production operator. Mrs. Shifflett enjoyed traveling with her husband, music, flower gardening, camping and going to dirt track racing.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Shifflett was preceded in death by
her first husband, Carl Stover Simmons; a brother, Russell Rexrode; a sister, Mary Eckard and a step-son, David Wayne Shifflett.
Surviving in addition to her husband of 23 years, is a daughter, Martha S. Shifflett and her husband Wilmer Lee of Grottoes; three sisters, Virginia Pitsenbarger of Amherst, Annie Ruth Simmons and her husband Sheldon of Bridgewater and Norma Cunningham and her husband Paul of Moyers, West Virginia: a step-daughter, Carolyn S. Spicuzza of Waynesboro; a granddaughter, Pamela Sue (Shifflett) Gregory and her husband Richard; three great-grandchildren, Corey Gregory, Christopher Gregory and Ashley Painter; three great-great-grandchildren, Jared Eye, Kaylin Willow Rhodenizer and Kaison Painter and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, October 11, 2015 in Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A Celebration of life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 12, 2015 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Jim Joyner.
Entombment will follow in the Oaklawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens.
