Lawrence William Swisher, Sr., 73, husband of Joyce L. (Knott) Swisher of 812 North Coalter Street, passed away Thursday evening in the Augusta Health in Fishersville.
Mr. Swisher was born on July 4, 1936 in Staunton, a son of the late Issac E., Sr. and Alice L. (Cash) Swisher.
Lawrence retired from Central Coca-Cola Company in 2000 with twenty-six years of service as a truck driver. He was avid coca-cola collector, enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Swisher was an U.S. Army Veteran.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Swisher was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard L. Swisher and Leonard H. Swisher; three sisters, Jerleen S. Dunsmore, Peggy P. Cline and Mary Elizabeth Ryan.
Surviving in addition to his wife to whom he married on February 3, 1960 is a son; Lawrence W. Swisher, Jr of Smith Mountain Lake; a brother Issac E. Ike Swisher, Jr. and his wife Edith of Staunton; a sister Margie Anne Wright and her husband Forester of Verona; three grandchildren, Brandon S. Swisher and his wife April, Amberly S. Elmore and her husband Shane and Corey H. Swisher; five great-grandchildren, Kylee, Kamden and Kadin Swisher and Reagan and Kate Elmore; a number of nieces and nephews and his special pet dog Abbie.
A memorial service for Mr. Swisher will be private.
Burial is private in Oaklawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens.
The immediate family will receive family and friends at his residence.
