Lawrence Arthur Dow, 90, husband of Charlotte Frances (Schultz) Dow, of Swoope, passed away Saturday, December 10, 2016 in the Kings Daughters Community Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Dow was born on January 29, 1926 in New Jersey, a son of the late Arthur and Lillian (Fernandez) Dow.
Lawrence was a member of the Reformed Church of Oradell in New Jersey, he proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Army Air Corps and earned his bachelors degree from Rutgers University. Mr. Dow was owner/operator for 18 years at Beverley Office Supply and Equipment Company, he managed little league ball teams, was an avid sports fan and enjoyed spending time with his family, whom he loved dearly.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Dow.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 69 years is a son, Roy Dow; a daughter, Carol (Dow) Ratliff and her husband Paul; three grandchildren, Sean Ratliff, Tara Ratliff and Alisa (Ratliff) Moore and her husband Jacob; and an unborn great-grandchild due in May.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 13, 2016 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A Celebration of life will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 14, 2016 in the Hebron Presbyterian Church by Pastor Frank Wyche.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Paul Ratliff, Sean Ratliff, Jacob Moore, Patrick Webb, Seth Winslow and Michael Ruleman.
It is suggested those desiring make memorial contributions to the Alzheimers Association, 1160 Pepsi Place, Suite 306, Charlottesville, Virginia 22901, in honor of Mr. Dows wife, Charlotte.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
