Lawrence Elmore Buchanan, 90, widower of Ruby Anna (Riley) Buchanan of 43 Niswander Road passed away Thursday, August 21, 2014 at his residence.
Mr. Buchanan was born on October 2, 1923 in Augusta County, a son of the late Thomas Oliver and Maude (Puckett) Buchanan.
Lawrence was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church for over sixty-four years. He had worked for American Moldings Inc. and had the honor of being top salesman until retirement.
In addition to his parents and wife of sixty-five years, Ruby, Mr. Buchanan was preceded in death by a son, Larry Lee Buchanan; seven brothers and six sisters.
Mr. Buchanan was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Surviving are two sons, Bob Buchanan and wife, Linda of Staunton and Tommy Buchanan and wife, Amanda of Natalie; three daughters, Pattie Davis and husband, Clyde, Lisa Stevenson and husband, Reggie all of Staunton, and Evelyn Thatcher and husband, Lester of Verona; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A Celebration of life will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, August 24, 2014 at the Staunton Seventh-Day Adventist Church by Pastor Dan Darrikhuma.
Burial will follow in the McKinley United Methodist Church cemetery.
