"Larry" Conroy

Lawerence Arthur "Larry" Conroy, 65, husband of Ferne (Rowe) Conroy, of Buford, Georgia, passed away at home on Tuesday, August 9, 2022.
Mr. Conroy was born in Mt. Pleasant, MI on September 9, 1956, the son of Ida Mae Conroy of Mt. Pleasant and the late Ronald M. Conroy.
Lawrence was a 1975 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School and received his AA degree from Harrisburg Area Community College in 1993. He attended DeVry University in Alpharetta, GA. He retired from the United States Army, after 20 years of service as a Sgt. First Class (SFC). Soon after military retirement he was employed by MetLife Insurance Company and worked in Human Resources in the Alpharetta office for 12 years. His energy level and need to stay productive lead him to become a Rural Mail Carrier with the Buford Post Office, Hamilton Mill Branch for 6 years.
Larry grew up in the Catholic faith and attended Catholic Parochial School. While stationed in Bamberg, GE, he became a member of the Church of God of Prophecy. He was an active member of this congregation when transferred to Schofield Barracks HI. Upon his retirement from the military, he and his wife settled in Buford, GA and became active members of the Suwanee United Methodist Church in Suwanee, GA. He returned to the "Faith of his heart" with the Church of God 6 months prior to his death.
He loved God, family, reading and Braves Baseball. Larry also loved sailing. He was very proud of his certification to sail and spent every available moment sailing around Pearl Harbor, HI.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 43 years, are two daughters, Amanda Conroy of Winder, GA, and Kim (Josh) Lemley of Lebanon, PA; two grandchildren, Collin Jay Witman and Ryan Lawerence Witman; four sisters, Trudy Rauch, Jeanette Conroy, Teresa Mortensen, and Penny (John) Pefferman; two brothers, Tim (Maria) Conroy and Jamie (Billie) Conroy, all residing in MI; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also loved and missed by his cat, Meow, dogs, Shiloh and Tink, grand kitten, Joey and grand dog, Gibbs.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2022 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Lewis Knight.
Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942 or to American Cancer Society PO Box 4110, Glen Allen, VA 23058.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
