Laurie Ann Munson, 57, wife of Kenneth "Buddy" Munson, III, of Staunton passed away Friday, February 4, 2022 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.

Mrs. Munson was born on September 22, 1964 in Staunton, a daughter of Nancy (Bell) Fitzgerald and the late Frederick W. Fitzgerald, Sr.

Laurie was the ultimate momma bear. She fiercely protected her husband and two children and loved them unconditionally. If she could have had one more day in a healthy body, we would have been on a beach in Florida just loving and laughing together until the sun set over the ocean. "We will see each other again one day."

In addition to her father, Laurie was preceded in death by an infant sister, Cynthia L. Fitzgerald; two nephews, Robert H. Fitzgerald and Joshua A. Sterrett; and a brother-in-law, Ricky L. Sheffer.

Surviving in addition to her husband of 21 years and her mother are two children, a son, Colton Thurman Munson and a daughter, Diana Grace Munson, all of Staunton; six sisters, Angel Showalter and her husband Bernie, Dee Fitzgerald both of Staunton, Sue Rose and her husband John of New Hope, Jacqueline Sheffer of Staunton, Patty Cloonan and her husband Chris of Waynesboro, and Samantha Sterrett and her husband Samuel of Staunton; one brother, Frederick W. Fitzgerald, Jr and his wife Cathy of Greenville; eight nieces and nephews, Dakota "Luna" Rose, special friend, Zeven Showalter, Dylan Sheffer, Raven Showalter, Andrew Fitzgerald, Kelsey Sheffer, Willson Sterrett and Weston Sterrett; and special family friend, Sandy Harper of Staunton.

A Memorial service will be conducted 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 19, 2022 in Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Tim Munson.

The family will receive friends following the service.
