Laurie Fitzhugh Hardwick, 97, widow of Selby Barnes Hardwick, III, of New Hope, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2023 at The Retreat at Fishersville.

Mrs. Hardwick was born in Warrenton, Virginia on March 30, 1925, the daughter of the late Thomas Engel Bartenstein and Elizabeth Cole (Gray) Bartenstein.

Mr. and Mrs. Hardwick enjoyed seventy-one years together.

Surviving, are two daughters, Joan H. Smith and Sally H. Armstrong; three grandchildren, Sarah Smith, Tony Smith and Jodi Walker; and seven great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton, is in charge of her arrangements.
