Larry K. Stewart, II
CRAIGSVILLE:
Larry Keith Bub Stewart, II, 47, husband of Elizabeth (Burns) Stewart of 113 Brookhollow Road, passed away July 28, 2011.
Mr. Stewart was born September 29, 1963 in Nuremburg, Germany, a son of Virginia Ann (Cantrell) Stewart and the late S.F.C. Larry Keith Stewart, Sr.
Larry was a respected correctional officer at the Augusta Correctional Center and a member of Christian Fellowship Baptist Church where he was active as a deacon, treasurer and enjoyed teaching junior church. Larry was a graduate of Irvin High School where he was a Major in the R.O.T.C.
Larry liked a fine cigar and was a gun and hunting enthusiast. He dearly loved to cook and bake, he was an excellent chef.
Larry loved his family and friends and they were very important to him.
In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a step-son, Harvey Noel Plecker, Jr.
Surviving in addition to his wife of twenty-one years and his mother of Churchville, survivors are a step-daughter, Sarah A. Plecker of Charlottesville; two brothers, Todd Anthony Stewart and his wife Lara and Garner Matthew Stewart and his wife Peggy all of Richmond; a sister, Etta Margaret Tyler and her husband Tony of Woodbury, GA; two uncles, Charles Cantrell and John Cantrell, Jr.; nieces and nephews, Matthew, Brandon, Brittany, Logan, Owen and Amber and two great nieces, Claira and Morgan also survive.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 1, 2011 in the Christian Fellowship Baptist Church by Pastor Gary Hodges.
Burial will follow in the Greenhill Cemetery in Churchville.
Active pallbearers are his two brothers, Todd and Garner Stewart, Brandon and Matthew Tyler, Todd LaCour, Lt. Gerald Canterbury, Captain Joey Sampson and Dwayne Strimple.
Honorary pallbearers are Todd Talbert, K.S. Campbell, Debbie Fox, Tammy Flavin, Nancy Doyle, Gayle Cash and Candace Perry.
The family will receive friends 6 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, July 31, 2011 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at his residence.
It is suggested that memorial contributions be made to Christian Fellowship Baptist Church, Building Fund, 1221 Buffalo Gap Highway, Swoope, VA 24479 and the Craigsville Lions Club.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory at 230 Frontier Drive is in charge of his arrangements.
