Larry Frederick Smith, age 78, of Staunton, Virginia passed away at his home on Tuesday, April 15, 2025.

He retired from ASR (American Safety Razor) after 36 years. Larry graduated from Booker T. Washington high school in 1965 and attended Blue Ridge Community College. In his early years, he enjoyed playing sports, especially basketball, tennis and golf. Larry loved spending time with his family. Later in life he loved watching sports and network news programs on TV and caring for ill and aging family members. He was also the caretaker of the family homeplace.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Taylor Sr. and Dolores Smith; his brother, Leroy Smith; and all of his aunts and uncles.

Surviving members are his son, Darren Wesley Smith (wife Yvette); grandchildren, Hannah, Ian, and Ethan Smith; former spouses, Shirley Smith and Rose Smith; siblings, Taylor Smith Jr., Corrine Smith Wertz, and Brenda Smith Bell; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.

A memorial service time will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2025 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel.

The family will receive friends following the service.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
