Kenneth Kenny Wayne Grant, 71, of Stuarts Draft, Virginia, passed away suddenly at his home on April 23, 2016.
He was the son of the late Troy and Lorraine Grant and was also preceded in death by his brother Larry Grant and infant son Dennis Grant.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Ellen (Rankin) Grant, son Darren Grant, daughter Teresa (Grant) Lucas, his beloved grandchildren Troy Lucas and Emma Grant, who were the loves of his life, brothers and sisters-in-law Gloria McQuain, Janet Nuckoles, Brenda and Tom Whetsell and Connie and Jatanna Rankin, many nieces and nephews and longtime friends.
He was a proud member of the Virginia State Police for 29 years, retiring as Sergeant in 1996. Under that somewhat intimidating exterior lied a man with a heart of gold who would do anything for his family and friends, and he never met a stranger. He Enjoyed feeding the wildlife in his backyard, reconnecting with old friends and troopers on Facebook and cheering on the Staunton Braves and Detroit Tigers every year. He was truly a one of a kind, with a unique witty charm, who will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. R.I.P. Trooper.
