Kenneth Randolph Kennie Henderson, 82, widower of Frances Elizabeth (Revercomb) Henderson of 1959 Shutterlee Mill Road, passed away Monday, August 12, 2013, at his residence.
Mr. Henderson was born October 5, 1930 in Stuarts Draft, a son of the late Jake and Catherine (Brooks) Henderson.
Mr. Henderson was the last immediate member of his family.
Mr. Henderson was a veteran of the United States Army and attended Marquis Memorial United Methodist Church. Kennie was a brick mason by trade, a trade his grandfather taught him and his brother Winnie. After returning to the area in 1970 he used his skills to create many masterpieces in the area including his last two homes. He was an avid Redskin fan. He also enjoyed gardening, NASCAR and dancing.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Frances, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty M. Hall; a brother, Winfred M. Henderson and a nephew, Michael D. Hall; his special pet cat and companion of 16 years Cally.
Survivors include two daughters; Robin S. Henderson and Michelle R. Steele and husband Glenn, all of Staunton; a step-granddaughter, Brittney Steele; a special friend and companion, Betty Christie; a special sister-in-law, Myrtle Revercomb; a number of other sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; numerous nieces and nephews.
A Funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday August 15, 2013 in Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Robert Sharp.
Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 14, 2013 in Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the residence.
It is suggested that memorial contributions be made to the Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah, P.O. Box 215, Fishersville, VA 22939.
