Kay (Meyerhoeffer) Thompson, 63, of Staunton, passed away Friday, June 26, 2015.
Ms. Thompson was born on December 11, 1951 in Augusta County, a daughter of the late Harry Elwood and Frances Michael (Crickenberger) Meyerhoeffer.
Ms. Thompson was a lifetime member of Laurel Hill Baptist Church where she was the pianist for over thirty years, she was very active with the women on missions, and was an organist for the worship services held
at Western State Hospital for many years. Kay was employed by Augusta Orthopedic Surgery, Inc. for more than twenty-five years, she enjoyed going to estate auctions and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Thompson was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Andrew Andy Clingenpeel.
Surviving is a son, Neil D. Thompson and his wife Kellie of Palmyra; a grandson, Tyler Thompson; a brother, Bobbie E. Meyerhoeffer and his wife Peggy of Staunton; a sister, Connie M. Clingenpeel of Roanoke; three nephews, Donn E. and Dean M. Meyerhoeffer and Rev. Brian A. Clingenpeel; a niece, Amy C. MacGregor; and a special friend, Daphne Almarode.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 2, 2015 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home of Kays brother and sister-in-law, Bobbie and Peggy Meyerhoeffer.
A Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 3, 2015 in Laurel Hill Baptist Church by Rev. Bill Davis, Pastor and Ms. Thompsons nephew, Rev. Brian A. Clingenpeel.
Burial will follow in Laurel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Charlie Smith, Steve Riley, Russ Waldrop, Kenneth Cleveland, Tom Ross, Howard McNeal, Donn Meyerhoeffer and Dean Meyerhoeffer.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Kingdom Seekers Sunday School Class.
It is suggested those desiring may make memorial contributions to Laurel Hill Baptist Church, c/o the Music Ministry, 129 Old Laurel Hill Road, Verona, Virginia 24482.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
