Katherine Irene (Livezey) Crouse
Katherine Irene (Livezey) Crouse, 88, widow of Boyd Edward Crouse, of Staunton, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2026 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.
Mrs. Crouse was born in Bel Air, Maryland on December 29, 1937, the daughter of the late Joseph Livezey and Verna Trusler.
Katherine was a beloved member of House of Prayer. She loved life and found joy in the simple things, especially taking country rides, spending time with horses, and watching basketball. She was an especially devoted fan of UConn women’s basketball.
Katherine was a spark that could light up any room. She had a smile that could warm your heart and a laugh that was contagious. She loved to joke around, keep things light, and remind everyone that life was meant to be fun. Her love for the color pink was no secret—it was her signature. She believed in living boldly, loving deeply, and never taking a single day for granted.
Katherine retired from Augusta Nursing and Rehab, where she was well known and loved. Everyone there knew one important rule: “Don’t walk on her wet floors!” It was just one of the many little things that made Katherine so memorable and brought smiles to those around her.
She was deeply loved by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Katherine had a warm and welcoming spirit and truly never met a stranger. Her kindness, humor, laughter, and love of life touched the hearts of so many. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love, joy, and unforgettable memories.
In addition to her parents and husband of 65 years, Mrs. Crouse was preceded in death by a son, David Edward Crouse.
Surviving, are two sons, Rex Crouse of Staunton, and Terry Crouse and his wife, Daphine of Waynesboro; a daughter, Debra Fields of Staunton; two brothers, Stanley Livezey of Maryland and Johnny Trusler of Newport News; ten grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2026 in Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Johnny Sheppard.
Burial will follow in Thornrose Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Terry Crouse, Jeremiah Woodson, Rita Fields, John Fields, Jordan Fields, and Alex Goodson.
