Karen Sue Koogler, 56, of Staunton, Virginia, went to be with the Lord after courageously fighting cancer.

She was born on June 4, 1964, to Annabelle Koogler and the late Paul Koogler of Fairfield, Virginia.

Karen was a loving elementary school teacher for over thirty years at Riverheads Elementary School and loved her community. She was also a devoted University of Virginia basketball fan and enjoyed cheering her Hoos to victory. Karen was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school for many years.

Those left to cherish her memory include her mother, Annabelle Koogler, brother David Koogler and wife, Margie, brother Kenneth Koogler and wife, Denise, son Michael Tuennermann and wife, Mackenzie, daughter Kelley Hartness and husband, Jared, granddaughter Anna Hartness, nieces Nicole Clark and husband, Jonathan, their children Alexis and Charlie, niece Courtney Koogler and fianc, Samuel, nephews Christopher and Andrew Koogler.

A private family graveside service will be held at Mount Carmel Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Steeles Tavern, Virginia.

There will be a drive-in in celebration of Karen\u0027s life in the parking lot of Riverheads elementary school, with overflow parking at Riverheads high school on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. The service will be broadcast via a FM transmitter, to your car radio.

The service will also be broadcast on Facebook live, available for viewing from Karen\u0027s Facebook page, for those who are unable to attend.
