Julia Kyle "Doots" (Hitt) Singers, 85, formerly of Culpeper, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at Royal Care Assisted Living in Staunton.

Mrs. Singers was born on September 18, 1933 in Culpeper, Virginia, a daughter of the late Roy Thompson and Stella (Smoot) Hitt.

Julia was a member of the Culpeper Presbyterian Church and retired from the C\u0026P Telephone Company with over thirty years of service in management.

In addition to her parents, Julia was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-six years, Elmer Franklin "Dickey" Singers; and three sisters, Lucy Lee Rich, Margaret Louise Inskeep, and Betty Ann Hunt.

Surviving are two daughters, Judy S. Sorrell and her husband Paul of Staunton, and Teresa G. Nelson and her husband Billy of Grovetown, Georgia; three grandchildren, Joseph Franklin Sorrell and his wife Elana, Kristen Doughty, Amanda Monaghan and her husband Alan; and four great-grandchildren, Brooks Doughty, Henry Monaghan, Ellie Sorrell, and Marley Sorrell; two brothers, William Roy Hitt and his wife Linda, and George Edwin Hitt and his wife Janet; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 7, 2019 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Reverend John Peterson.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
