Judith Sharon Ghidoni, of Lebanon Church Road, Staunton, Virginia, passed away at the Shenandoah House of Augusta Health on Sunday, June 7, 2020, due to complications from a stroke.
She was born September 16, 1944, in Plymouth, Massachusetts, to Louis and Myrtle Feci. After graduation from Plymouth High School in 1962, she worked for many years at Butner's Department Store in Plymouth, with her mother and many dear friends; on September 18, 1965, she married Donald J. Ghidoni, her high school sweetheart, also of Plymouth. After the birth of their son, Jonathan, in early 1970, they moved to Goshen, New Hampshire, where they lived for 33 years, during which she was a homemaker for the balance of her son's young childhood; she then worked as a secretary and book-keeper for Corbett Oil Co., and then later, Johnson & Dix, of Newport. In 2003, she and Don moved to Augusta County, Virginia, first to Verona, and then to Spring Hill, to be near their son and his growing family. During this time, she worked for Belk Department Store as a retail associate, and then finally for B&S Contracting, Inc., from which she retired as a secretary in 2010.
Judy loved to read, almost any genre or author, but particularly loved the works of Dean Koontz, Stephen King, early Taylor Caldwell, biographies, and many cookbooks, especially those of her favorite cookbook author and TV cook, Ree Drummond (Pioneer Woman). She was an excellent cook, using old family recipes and creating her own; many memories were made with her food for her family and friends, particularly during the holidays. Judy loved flowers and fresh vegetables, and gardened enthusiastically for many years. She was also an excellent amateur artist, and enjoyed playing cards and solving puzzles. Most of all, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to those in her life.
She leaves behind her beloved husband of 55 years, Donald Ghidoni; her son, Jonathan Ghidoni of Fishersville, two grandchildren, Nathan Hunter and Mary Lauren Ghidoni, an older sister, Mrs. Gerald (Patricia) Carpenter of Plympton, Massachusetts; a younger sister, Luanne Feci, and her twin brother, Steven Feci, both of Rochester, New Hampshire; sister-in-law, Phyllis Baker, of Goshen, New Hampshire, brother- and sister-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. John Ghidoni of Plymouth, Massachusetts; and brother- and sister-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Robert Ghidoni of Alpena, Michigan, as well as many nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
No memorial service was held, in accordance with her wishes.
