Juanita Beatrice Hunter's Obituary

Juanita Beatrice Hunter, 88, of Springhill Road, Staunton passed away Friday, August 6, 2021 at her residence.

Ms. Hunter was born on September 28, 1932 in Goshen, Virginia, a daughter of the late Renick Davis Hunter, Sr. and Ada (Pugh) Hunter.

Ms. Hunter was a member of Third Presbyterian Church and retired from Western State Hospital where she was employed as an office clerk. Juanita was an active member of the Goshen Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, the Augusta Springs First Aide and other community services. She enjoyed playing the piano and participating in all sports in her younger years.

In addition to her parents, Juanita was preceded in death by her ex-husband and dear friend, Stanley Paxton; five brothers, Grover, Tom, Robert "Bob", Melvin and Renick, "JR" Hunter; five sisters, Cleo VanBuren, Blanche Driggers, Mona Hunter, Bonnie Hunter and Bessie Miller.

Ms. Hunter was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Ms. Hunter is survived by two daughters, Deb Paxton of Staunton and Sue P. Campbell and her husband Darryl of Swoope; two granddaughters, Renita Campbell and Zarah Johnson; five great-grandchildren, Caden, Trenton, Kaylee, Makayla and Jase; Dustin Nuckoles who was like a grandson to her; her special companion and pet dog, "Daffnee" and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, August 9, 2021 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.

A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 10, 2021 in Goshen Baptist Church Cemetery.

Following the service friends are invited to gather at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, 1760 Buffalo Gap Highway, Swoope.

Active pallbearers will be Darryl Campbell, Dustin Nuckoles, Dalton Aaron and Trenton Campbell.

It is suggested those desiring make memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105-1942 or Augusta Regional SPCA, 33 Archery Lane, Staunton, Virginia 24401.
