Juanita Elizabeth Nita (Roberts) Beghtol, 72, wife of John Duane Beghtol of Staunton, passed away Saturday, August 19, 2017 at her residence.
Mrs. Beghtol was born on September 8, 1944 in Lexington, Virginia a daughter of the late Dewey Barker and Catherine Elizabeth (Lewis) Roberts.
Nita was formerly employed as an administrative assistant for Western State Hospital with 20 years of service and later worked in the Oncology Department at the University of Virginia. She was a former member of the Red Hat Club and was a past president of the Volunteer Services Council at Western State Hospital. Mrs. Beghtol had a special passion for the beach, especially in the town of Avon, North Carolina. In the most recent years, she enjoyed crafting, antiquing, cooking, and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Frances R. Downs.
Surviving in addition to her husband of thirty-two years, is a daughter, Beth Schroeder and her husband Kenneth of Staunton; two step-sons, John Dillon Beghtol and wife Robin of Kansas, and James Dean Beghtol and wife Michelle of Iowa; two step-daughters, Tasha Eve Beghtol and husband Dennis of Iowa, and Cinnamon Anne Krabill and companion Jimmy of Kansas; a granddaughter, Kayla Schroeder of Staunton; a special step-granddaughter, Brooke Paul Hanson and husband Benjamin of Iowa and eleven additional step-grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a sister, Luci Luniewski and her husband Hank of Charlottesville; a nephew, Steven Downs and his companion Misty of West Virginia; and two nieces, Cathy Shenal and husband Brian of Salem and Amy Marciniak and husband Steve of Crozet also survive.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 23, 2017 in Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 24, 2017 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Cynthia Long.
Burial to follow in Thornrose Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Steven Downs, Kenneth Schroeder, Brian Shenal, Steve Marciniak, Darren Pultz, Earl Roberts, and Carl Jones.
Honorary pallbearers will be John Dillion Beghtol and James Dean Beghtol.
