Joyce (Lawhorn) Stanley, 89, widow of John C. Stanley of 1041 Old Greenville Road, passed away Monday, July 23, 2012 at her residence.
Mrs. Stanley was born January 9, 1923 in Rockbridge County, a daughter of the late Lucian N. and Hattie (Garison) Lawhorn.
Joyce was a member of Stonewall United Methodist Church, a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, and was a lover of animals.
In addition to her parents and husband Mrs. Stanley was preceded in death by a son, Norman Stanley and two sisters, Geraldine Bradds and Alma Cason.
Survivors include two daughters; Janet R. Mooneyham and husband Hansford of Fort Pierce, Florida and Jacqueline V. Price and friend Robert Thomas of Interlachen, Florida; a sister Pauline Holt of Redlands, California; four grandchildren, Scott and Patricia Mooneyham, Gary Neiman and Shaun Price; three great-grandchildren Christopher and Gregory Mooneyham and Nathaniel Neiman and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
A Celebration of life will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 26, 2012 in Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Peter Geoffrion and Rev. Robert Smith.
Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers will be Donald Bradds, Larry Bradds, Ricky Cason, Ray Cason, Dwight Cason and Charles Varner.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m.Wednesday, July 25, 2012 in Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
