Joyce Ann (Pugh) Howdyshell, 67, wife of Ronald Lee Howdyshell, Sr., of 422 Baltimore Avenue, passed away Monday, March 9, 2015, at her residence.
Mrs. Howdyshell was born October 11, 1947 in Alleghany County, a daughter of the late Maud Cabell (Loan) Pugh.
Joyce was retired from Western State Hospital after twenty-seven years of service. She enjoyed cooking, reading and traveling with the Howdyshell Racing Team. Joyce loved her family, taking care of others and was Mom to everyone.
In addition to her mother, Mrs. Howdyshell was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Lee Howdyshell, Jr.; and a brother, Bucky Pugh.
Surviving in addition to her husband of forty-eight years are two daughters, Rebecca Ann Becky Howdyshell and her fianc Joseph Botkin, Jr. and Debbie Russell-Savage both of Staunton; two sons, Tracy Flesher of Mint Spring and Ricky Redifer and his wife Betsy of Staunton; two sisters, Brenda K. Henderson of Waynesboro and Glenda M. Potter of Mt. Solon; a sister-in-law, Cleta Brooks of Staunton; four grandchildren, Brandon Barton and his wife Tabitha of New Market, Kaitlyn Savage, Taylor Redifer and Jennifer Hale and her husband Travis all of Staunton; special friend, Charles Brogan of Roanoke; a number of nieces and nephews; and her pet companions, Diesel and Furrball.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at her residence.
A Celebration of life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 13, 2015 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor John Ward.
Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memory Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Bobby Bosserman, Ernie Conner, Gerald Overby, Rob Allen, Lewis Wilson, Jack Root and Chuck Wagnor.
It is suggested those desiring make memorial contributions to St. Jude Childrens Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
