Joyce G. Lamond

Joyce (Garvin) Lamond, 87, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away Monday, August 5, 2013 at her residence.

She was born on February 8, 1926 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. She was the daughter of the late Hadden and Ruth Garvin.

Joyce loved her family, friends and community. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Presbyterian Womans Group and the Tuesday Club. She loved spending time helping others by volunteering many hours at the S.P.C.A. Thrift Shop, Staunton Visitors Center, church pantry and delivering Meals on Wheels. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening but her passion was spending time with her family in the old Traditional way. She established a legacy of unconditional love and caring for others.

Mrs. Lamond was preceded in death by her husband, B. Bruce Lamond; by a daughter, Suzanne Lamond; a daughter-in-law, Trudi Lamond; and a brother, Glenn Garvin.

Survivors include three sons, Bruce Lamond, Jr. and his wife Linda of Staunton, Craig Lamond and his wife Karen of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL and Brian Lamond of Charlotte, NC; two daughters, Cheryl (Lamond) Byrd of Staunton and Joyce Lee (Lamond) Sharp of Madison; fourteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and a great-great grandson.

A memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 8, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church by Dr. Richard Dietrich. The family will receive friends following the service in the church Fellowship Hall.

A private burial will be in Thornrose Cemetery.
