Joyce Virginia (Kiser) Harris, 78, of Staunton, widow of Hansford H. Harris passed away Sunday, May 11, 2014 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, after seven months from complications after being hit by a vehicle while walking her beloved dog, Bucky.
Mrs. Harris was born January 25, 1936 in Augusta County, a daughter of the late Luther Maynard and Willie (Fink) Kiser.
Joyce was a member of the Cherryvale United Methodist Church and was in the insurance industry for over forty-three years and had retired from Bankers Insurance where she was employed as an insurance agent. She liked to camp, read and enjoyed the concerts in the park. She loved to walk her best buddy and companion, pet dog, Bucky.
In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her first husband, Ray Samuel Roadcap.
Survivors are a son, Alan Ray Roadcap and his wife Debi of Waynesboro; a daughter, Susan (Roadcap) Austin and her husband Steve of Salem; a brother, John M. Kiser and his wife Mildred of Mint Spring; a sister, Jacqueline K. Phillips and her husband Ted of Weyers Cave; five grandchildren, Jessica, Carrie, Justin, Stephanie and Melisa; twelve great-grandchildren; and numerous family members and close friends.
A Graveside service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2014 at Oaklawn Memory Gardens by Rev. DeBorah F. Barnwell.
It is suggested those desiring make memorial contributions in Joyces memory to the Cherryvale United Methodist Church, 709 Cherry Hill Road, Staunton, VA 24401.
