Joseph Louis Stuart, Sr.'s Obituary

The Lord has come and taken Joseph "Joe" Louis Stuart, Sr. to rest on Monday, July 5, 2021 in Waynesboro.

Joseph was born in Augusta County, Virginia. The son of Mammie V. Stuart, he was an only child. Joe was united in marriage to Mary Bernice Robinson on August 27, 1966 for fifty-three years.

He was a veteran of the United States Navy. Joe was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Staunton, led by Pastor Michael A. Turner, Sr. Joe has served on the trustee board, choir, and as an usher. He worked for thirty-three years at DuPont, and after retirement he worked for the State Police in Staunton. He will be truly missed, but the Lord knew better.

Joe was preceded in death by one grandson, Keith Morgan.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two daughters, Leronia (Bernard Haynes), Jatoris (Rodney Rogers), and only son, Joseph Jr. (Susan Stuart). He is also survived by seven grandchildren Louie III (Valanita Morgan), Leronia (Dustin Mercer), Natasha Rogers, Ashley Stuart, Julia Stuart, Nia Rogers, and Rodney Rogers, II. He is also survived by adopted daughter, Maronaca (Pebbles) and her husband Donald Kelly, as well as their two children, Uniqua Perkins and Dontell Kelly. Joseph has two God children, Joshua and Jaelyn Lightburn. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren Naomi, Louie IV, Camille, Katelyn, and Levi Morgan. He is also survived by the Ledbetters, Johnson, and Stewart families, as well as his aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Friends may pay their respects beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, July 16, 2021 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, Staunton.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 17, 2021 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Michael A. Turner, Sr.

Burial and military rites will follow in Oaklawn Memory Gardens.
