Joseph C. Puckett
RAPHINE
Joseph Carlton Joe Puckett 69, husband of Joyce Ann (Butler) Puckett, of 36 Great Warriors Lane, Raphine, passed away Sunday, November 21, 2010 at Golden Living Center in Buena Vista.
Mr. Puckett was born on December 24, 1940 in Fishersville, a son of the late Melton Chester and Dorothy (Lawrence) Puckett.
Mr. Puckett was the operator of J \u0026 H Shooter, Inc. in Raphine and was a veteran of both the United States Army and Navy. He attended the Lighthouse Church of the Living God, enjoyed fishing and loved his animals.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are three sons, Chester Lee Smith of Raphine, Glenn Wayne Smith and his wife Jennifer of Fairfield and Jody M. Puckett of Peterstown, WVA; a daughter, Theresa P. Bowling of Raphine; a brother, Hubert Puckett of Fairfield; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren; many special friends including, Jerry Thorne, Robert Lucas, Nick Smith, Richard Shull, Matthew Wilmer, Gus Riccioni, Butch Edwards, and his special pet dog, Chi Chi also survives.
A Memorial service will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 28, 2010 in Lighthouse Church of the Living God in Buena Vista by Rev. Jay Thorne.
The family will receive friends following the service in the church.
Burial will be private at Concord Church of the Brethren Cemetery in Fairfield.
The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation for the loving care given to Mr. Puckett during his stay at the Golden Living Center in Buena Vista, and also many thanks for the care given by Hospice, as well as Dr. Peck.
It is suggested that memorial contributions be made to Southern Care Hospice, 2815 North Augusta Street, Staunton, VA 24401 or the South River Volunteer Fire Department, 5585 North Lee Hwy., Fairfield, VA 24435.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
