Jonathan "Jay/Jaybird/J.W." Wayne Trayer, 40 of 3150 Lee Highway, Weyers Cave, passed away Friday, July 31, 2020 in Augusta Health in Fishersville.
Jay was born on March 5, 1980 in Staunton, Virginia the son of Elizabeth (Dickerhoof) Altizer and the late Carl Andrew Trayer, Jr.
Jay was formerly employed by Appalachian Woods, and he was an avid Washington Redskins fan, collecting all Redskins memorabilia. He followed his father's love and passion for the local Fire Departments, and he enjoyed riding his moped.
In addition to his father, Jay was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Harris and Helen Dickerhoof, paternal grandmother, Anna Lee Trayer; and aunts, Sandra Huffer, Patricia Buchanan and Brenda Cox.
Surviving in addition to his mother of Weyers Cave is a sister, Becky S. Woodzell and her fianc Troy Kyle of Staunton; his mother's fianc Thomas Tooley of Waynesboro; four cousins, Pamela Marcum, Ricky Buchanan, Jr., Angela White, and Stefanie Huffer; two uncles, Ricky Buchanan, Sr., and Gary Huffer; a niece, Kristen Crawford; a nephew, Justin Kyle; and a great-nephew, Hunter Crawford.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 5, 2020 in Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 6, 2020 at Hebron Presbyterian Church Cemetery by Pastor Johnny Sheppard.
