STAUNTON:

John Edward Puffenberger, 59, husband of Peggy A. Puffenberger of 407 Rainbow Drive passed away July 8, 2012 at his residence after a courageous four year battle with cholangiocarcinoma with his wife and loving family by his side.
Mr. Puffenberger was born in Staunton on April 25, 1953, a son of the late Forrest Maxwell Puffenberger, Sr. and Phyllis (Bell) Puffenberger.
Mr. Puffenberger was a member of the First Church of God and was formerly employed for thirty-two years at Obaugh Ford and later at Rule Honda.
In addition to his wife of thirty-six years, survivors include a daughter, Angela Rhea (Puffenberger) Spencer and her husband Rodney of Nelson County; a brother, Forrest M. Puffenberger, Jr. of Verona, two sisters, Lucinda B. Botkin of Richmond and Karen Sue Puffenberger of Menasha, WI; three special grandchildren, Kali Elizabeth Welcher, Kaden Blain Welcher and Wyatt Dawson Spencer.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at First Church of God by Pastor Donald Simmons.
Burial will follow in Thornrose Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at the First Church of God, 1850 Shutterlee Mill Road, Staunton.
Active pallbearers will be David Killingsworth, Max Miller, Gene Matthews, Jim Lowe, David Hoover, Jim Brown, Blane Coursey and Tommy Harris.
Honorary pallbearers are Tabb Cole, Wayne Bartley, Steve Fitzgerald, Mike Chauncey, Danny Campbell, Tommy Rosen, Chuck Rodamer and Jimmy Lewis.
It is suggested those desiring make memorial contributions to the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation, 5526 West 13400 South #510, Salt Lake, UT 84096 or to the First Church of God Building Fund, 1850 Shutterlee Mill Road, Staunton, VA 24401.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
