John H. Perdue, Jr. 70, husband of Sandy (Purvis) Perdue of 48 Granary Road, went to meet his Lord and Savior, with his family by his side, on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 in Augusta Health in Fishersville.
Mr. Perdue was born on May 4, 1944 in Hampton, Virginia, a son of Rose (Ballew) Perdue and the late John H. Perdue, Sr.
John was a member of Memorial Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Navy. He was an over the road truck driver with 40 years of driving accident free. Prior to his retiring from Central Transport, John was employed for William Edwards Trucking and North \u0026 South Trucking Company as an owner/operator. Mr. Perdue participated in the Sunday Night Bowling league, was active member of the church choir, enjoyed motorcycle riding, bowling and working puzzles.
In addition to his father, John was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Perdue.
Surviving in addition to his mother of Stuarts Draft, and his wife of 49 years, is a son, Jon Christopher Chris Perdue and wife Amanda W.; a daughter, Katrina Lynn Perdue both of Verona; two brothers, James Perdue and wife Joan of Verona; Dean Perdue and wife Anne of Mint Spring; three sisters, Nancy P. Whitlow and husband Frank of Collinsville, VA, Carol P. Fuchs and husband Wayne and Teresa P. Beard and husband Sam both of Stuarts Draft; two grandchildren whom he dearly loved, Jake C. Perdue and Brianna C. Perdue; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Coffman Funeral Home.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 24, 2015 in Memorial Baptist Church by the Rev. Temple D. Myers and Rev. Mark Jones.
The family will receive friends following the service in the Great Hall at Memorial Baptist Church.
Burial will be private in Augusta Memorial Park.
