John Weldon Pappy Painter, 55, of 1188 Spaulding Street passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at his residence.
Mr. Painter was born September 20, 1955 in Staunton, a son of the late Jack Coleman and Natalie Breckenridge (Ball) Painter.
Mr. Painter was a technician with Central Virginia Chemical Company and former president of the Waynesboro PTO. He coached little league baseball for twelve years as well as the UTV Skate team and was an avid supporter and participant of the James River Batteau Festival. He enjoyed floating rivers, fishing and attending his grandsons little league games. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted father. John also had a special place in his heart for all of his grandchildren and his daughter-in-law, Donna.
Survivors include the mother of his children, Dody Robinson; four sons, Jason Painter and his wife Ashley, Ian Painter and his wife Donna all of Staunton, Jack Painter of Waynesboro, John Painter of Staunton and his fiance, Brittany Cornett of Roanoke; a daughter, Natalie Painter of Staunton; a brother, Dave Painter and his wife, Laurie of Richmond, KY; five grandchildren, Morgan, Ethan, Willow and Kaison Painter and Jared Eye; two aunts, Nancy McCray of Richmond and Jean Kyle of Staunton also survives.
A Celebration of life will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 18, 2011 in Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Chaplain Mark A. Westebbe.
Burial will follow in Thornrose Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 17, 2011 in Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at his residence.
Active pallbearers will be Jason Painter, Ian Painter, Jack Painter, John Painter, Dave Painter and Harry Robinson.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the John Painter Funeral Fund, c/o of Natalie Painter, 302 N. Madison Street, Apt. #2, Staunton, VA 24401.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
