MT. SIDNEY:

John David Massengill, 52, husband of Gina K. Massengill of 975 Limestone Road, Mt. Sidney went to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, February 24, 2011 at his residence.
Mr. Massengill was born August 8, 1958 in Booneville, MS, a son of Christine (Brimingham) Massengill and the late Harmon B. Massengill.
In addition to his father, Mr. Massengill was preceded in death by a brother, Phillip Massengill.
John was a member of Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church and the Upper-Room Emmaus Community of the Shenandoah Valley. His passion over the years was the childrens and outreach ministries. He was a supporter and volunteer of the Samaritans Purse and an active volunteer with the Verona Food Bank. He was a self-employed carpenter and enjoyed the outdoors.
In addition to his mother and wife of thirteen years survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Heather Walker and her husband Jim of Milledgeville, GA, Jennifer Giovannini and her husband Michael of Columbus, GA, Jessica Massengill of Milledgeville, GA and Katera Massengill at home; a step-son, Caleb R. Hartman at home; three grandchildren, Skylar, Gracyn and Joshua Walker; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Michael Massengill and his wife Debbie and Timothy Massengill all of Tishomingo, MS; a sister and brother-in-law, Diane Salvucci and her husband Rich of Lake Alfred of FL.; a sister-in-law, Barbara Massengill of Counce, TN; sixteen nieces and nephews also survive.
A Celebration of life will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 27, 2011 in
Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church by Rev. John Crawford.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers are Kevin Poeckert, Larry Goodhart, Dale Marshall, Tim Armentrout, Ralph Groves, Rick Robertson, Scott Snead, Danny Bray, Eddie Barnett and Johnnie Turner.
The family will receive friends 7-9:00 p.m. Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and at other times the residence.
It is suggested those so desiring to make memorial contributions to Camp Overlook, 3014 Camp Overlook Lane, Keezletown, VA 22832.
