John Lewis Lynn, 82, widower of Joyce E. (Lofton) Lynn, of Waynesboro, passed away on Monday, July 25, 2022.

Mr. Lynn was born at Kings Daughters Hospital in Staunton, Virginia on July 4, 1940, a son of the late Lieut. Robert A. Lynn, Sr. and Mary Alice (Silling) Lynn.

John was a graduate of R.E. Lee High School, class of 1959, where he was a member of the Quarter Back Club, Kiwanis Club, and played for the Nehi Softball Team. Mr. Lynn enlisted in the United States Army and completed basic training in Ft. Jackson, SC. He was stationed in Arlington, VA, with an Army Security Agency.

John worked for Drug Fair as a manager trainee and supervised the Waynesboro, Virginia store for twenty years. He became a district manager in 1985 and served in that position until 1991, when the store became Rite Aid. John retired from Rite Aid in 2008, after 47 years of retail management.

John enjoyed playing golf with his many golf buddies, taking trips to Myrtle Beach, and was an avid Redskins fan. Mr. Lynn was a member of Marquis Memorial Methodist Church and attended Memorial Baptist Church in Staunton.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Lynn was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert A. Lynn and James S. Lynn.

Surviving, are two daughters, Sherrie Gail Dauk and her husband Wayne of Cummings, GA and Diane Lynn Stamp and her husband Alan of Staunton; a granddaughter, Jayme Lee Moyers and her husband Charlie; and a great-grandson, Dawson Moyers; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 29, 2022 at Memorial Baptist Church by Pastor Todd Latham.

The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the church.

Burial will follow in Thornrose Cemetery.

Active Pallbearers will be Jerry Coffey, Ronnie Craig, Ronnie Shifflett, Fred Zeh, Billy Wrenn, Mark Childress, and Jamie Kerns.
