John Robert "Johnny" Crawford, 70, husband of Carolyn S. Curry passed away Friday, January 4, 2019 in the Shenandoah House in Fishersville.
Mr. Crawford was born on September 1, 1948 in Richlands, Virginia, a son of the late Norman Robert Crawford and Phyllis (McGlothlin) Crawford.
Mr. Crawford was retired and former Owner/Operator of Staunton Full Service Recycling and was a 22 year veteran of the United States Navy. Johnny was a member of the Staunton Church of the Brethren, Staunton Elks Lodge #351 and Staunton Masonic Lodge #13 AF \u0026 AM. He enjoyed camping, boating, gardening, especially rose gardening and was known for his smile and kind words. He was willing to help anyone at any time and will be remembered for his "Rose Ministry".
Surviving in addition to his wife of 21 years are two daughters, Pam J. Stumpff-Eavey and her husband Kevin of Stuarts Draft and Donita C. McCormick-Fortune and her husband Ken of Waynesboro; two step-sons, Trey Curry and his wife Kathy and Chris Curry and his wife Katie both of Staunton; four brothers, Jim Crawford of Staunton, Tommy Crawford of McLean, Ray Crawford of Richlands and "Brother" Raymond Curry of Staunton; three step-grandsons, Quade Curry, Zac Curry and Zayne Curry; numerous nieces and nephews and a "special nephew" Jamey Crawford.
A Graveside service will be conducted 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 8, 2019 in Augusta Memorial Park.
A Memorial service will be conducted 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 8, 2019 in the Staunton Church of the Brethren by Pastor Scott L. Duffey.
The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
The family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to the doctors, and nursing staff, at Augusta Health, the UVA Cancer Center of Augusta / Hope Center, the Shenandoah House and the UVA Medical Center.
