John David J.D. Miller, 59, of 815 Selma Blvd. passed away Saturday, January 20, 2018 in the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond.
Mr. Miller was born on March 18, 1958 in Staunton, a son of Charlotte
(Wheeler) Bateman and the late Woodrow Cecil Bateman.
J.D. was a dedicated hard worker and took pride in every job he had. J.D. recently was a loving caregiver for his aunt, Evelyn Saufley, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and was an avid NASCAR fan, especially Dale Earnhardt. He was a great Dad and his grandchildren were his pride and joy.
Surviving are two daughters, Jennifer Miller and her companion, Arthur Cooke and Jessica Miller and her companion, Brandon Leabough all of Goochland; seven grandchildren, Jauntee Miller, JaRee Miller, Michael McDonald, Jr. and Ahmire Miller, Dreshon Tyler, JaVonte Fleming, and Kaidyn Miller; a great-grandson Marcus Martin, Jr.; former wife and mother of his children, Joyce (Toman) Miller; a sister, Peggy Bailey and her husband Darrell of Staunton; and a niece, Angelica Bailey of Staunton.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 25, 2018 in Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home of Mr. Millers sister, Peggy Bailey, 202 Thompson Street, Staunton.
A Celebration of life will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 26, 2018 in Laurel Hill Baptist Church by Pastor Phillip Morgan.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Arthur Cooke, Corey Bowles, Sly Johnson, Billy Adkins, Dennis Wheeler and Donnie Wheeler.
