Obituary

John Francis Conner, 74, husband of Patricia Ann “Pat” (Moore) Conner, of Raphine, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2026 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.

Mr. Conner was born in Rockbridge County, Virginia on August 7, 1951, a son of the late John Hunter Conner and Mary Frances (Smiley) Conner.

John retired from Alcoa, where he served as a warehouse supervisor, and was a proud veteran of the United States National Guard. He attended Lexington Church of God and was a former member of the Blue Ridge Moose Lodge. John found joy in farming, cooking, and creating art. A talented musician, he played with a number of local bands throughout the years, sharing his love of music with family, friends, and the community.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of 54 years, is a daughter, Daphne A. Conner (Millen Hinkle) of Lexington; a son, Brad Conner (Stacy Atkins) of Raphine; a sister, Eleanor “Betty” Nix (Roland Vanderhoof) of Buena Vista; three grandchildren, Hailie Conner (John), Courtney Conner (Jakob) and Layton Derr (Ariana); honorary grandchildren, Lexia Derr, Hunter Collins, Shane Davis, Blake Davis, Dylan Atkins, Brooke Atkins, Emma Cash, Katie Pelter, Jennifer Graham, Leighia Perkins, Damien Smals, Jevon Wilson, and Dakota Kyger; and a special niece, Lisa Potter (Danny).

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 2, 2026 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 3, 2026 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Dorsey Hostetter and Reverend Jim Reynolds.

Burial will follow in Fairfield Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Roland Vanderhoof, Jim Reynolds, Brent Warren, Jim Stuart, Wayne Snyder, Ethan Williams, Chris Floyd, and James Widner.

It is suggested that those desiring make memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105-1942.
