John Howard Elliott, 67, husband of Anna Lee (Neff) Elliott, of 38 Eastover Blvd., Mount Sidney, passed away Tuesday, (September 15, 2009) at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Elliott was born in Staunton on January 12, 1942, a son of the late Maurice Henry and Ruth Louise (Koiner) Elliott.
John was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was employed by Krispy Kreme for twenty-three years as a Supervisor. He enjoyed the beach, he was an avid Washington Redskins and UVA Football fan and especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to his wife, to whom he married on April 20, 1963, is a son and daughter-in-law; John Jay Boyd Elliott and his wife Roxann of Mount Sidney; two daughters and sons-in-law; Donna Gayle Hawkins and her husband Randy Blair of Mount Sidney and Anita Louise Lockridge and her husband Ricky Martin of Stuarts Draft; two brothers, Maurice Lee Elliott of Staunton and Jerry Lynn Elliott of Verona; six grandchildren, Justin Blair and Mandy Leigh Hawkins, Joshua Andrew Lockridge and his wife Jennifer, Derek Martin Lockridge, Cody Adair and Brandie Nicole Elliott.
A celebration of Mr. Elliotts Life will be conducted 2:00 p.m., Friday (September 18, 2009) in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor David W. Smith.
Burial will follow in Oaklawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends this evening from 6 to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home or other times at his residence.
Active pallbearers are Daryl Tinsley, Eddie Carper, Neil Townsend, Jim Neff, Ike Knapp, Jeramie Knapp and Mike Knapp.
Honorary pallbearers will be the employees of Krispy Kreme and friends attending.
It is suggested that those desiring to make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, 1920 H Medical Avenue, Harrisonburg, Virginia 22801.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
