John B. Ellinger, Jr.
John Bryan Ellinger, Jr., 61, husband of Mary Sue (Taylor) Ellinger of 358 Dry Branch Road, Churchville, passed away Sunday morning (September 6, 2009) at his residence.
Mr. Ellinger was born in Churchville on March 23, 1948 a son of the late John B., Sr. and Virginia Mae (Crummett) Ellinger.
John was retired from Perdue Foods Inc of Bridgewater after 21 years of service due to his declining health. He enjoyed fishing, traveling and spending time with his family.
Mr. Ellinger was a member of the Verona Full Gospel Church where his love for the Lord was apparent. He will be remembered for his tremendous and never faltering faith in the Lord, his high spirit for spreading the word and reaching out to others who were in need. His love for his family and friends were evident in the way he lived each day of his life. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and he will be sadly missed.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Ellinger was preceded in death by a son, David A. Ellinger; a brother, Dennis L. Ellinger and two sisters, Beulah Losh and Ruby E. Dames.
Surviving in addition to his wife to whom he married on October 21, 1972 is a daughter, Tammy Sue Fridley and her fianc Tyrone Darcus of Staunton; two sisters and brothers-in-law; Lucy Puffenbarger and her husband George of Bridgewater and Rebecca Craig and her husband David of Mt. Sidney; two grandsons, Jonathan Fridley and Christian Darcus and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
A Celebration of Johns Life will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, (September 9, 2009) in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastors William H. Strickler and Peter E. Grimm.
Burial will follow in the Oaklawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be his grandson, Jonathan Fridley, Roy Starks, Roy Ellinger, Randy Bowers, Gary Puffenbarger and Kevin Craig.
Honorary pallbearers will be nieces, nephews and friends attending the service.
The family wishes to express their gratitude and appreciation to Johns loving family members, Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah and to the staff of the HOPE Center at Augusta Health for the wonderful care given him during his time of illness.
It is suggested those desiring make memorial contributions to the Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah, 64 Sports Medicine Drive, Fishersville, Va. 22939.
The family will receive friends this evening from 6 to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home or at the residence at other times.
