John Logan
Coffman, Jr.
July 4, 1932 – March 16, 2023
John Logan Coffman, Jr., 90, widower of Mary Lou (Sprouse) Coffman, of 1943 Little River Road, Goshen, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Charlotte Coffman.
Mr. Coffman was born in Augusta County, Virginia on July 4, 1932 a son of the late John Logan Coffman, Sr. and Mazie Anna (Powell) Coffman.
John was a member of Estaline Valley Church of the Nazarene and The Gideon's International. He retired in 1995 from UPS as a mechanic. He enjoyed attending National Brethren Church conferences, farming, and working with horses.
In addition to his parents and wife of sixty-eight years, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Evanne Coffman; a brother, Glenn Franklin Coffman; and a sister, Sara Lee (Coffman) Beale.
Mr. Coffman was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Surviving, are two sons, John Logan "Johnny" Coffman, III and his wife, Charlotte of Goshen and Jesse Andrew "Andy" Coffman and his wife, Annette of Verona; a daughter, Karen (Coffman) Hinkle and her husband, Robert "Weatie" of Craigsville; five grandchildren, Angela Canterbury and her husband, Jerry, Crystal Coffman, Angel Coffman, Jarrod Coffman, and Jordan Coffman; seven great-grandchildren, Kayla Hinkle, Leanna Canterbury, Delanie Burns, Aidan Coffman, Hannah Coffman, Cole Coffman and Finley Coffman; a great-great-grandson, Abel Deaver; a special friend, Eddie Parker; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 20, 2023 at Estaline Valley Church of the Nazarene by Pastor Tim Thomas and Pastor Darren Howdyshell.
Burial will follow in the Little River Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Jarrod Coffman, Jordan Coffman, Tommy Harris, Robert Hinkle, Tommy Humphreys, Dale Michael, and Basil Karr.
It is suggested, that those desiring make memorial contributions to Estaline Valley Church of the Nazarene, c/o Carolyn Michael, 1773 Troxel Gap Road, Craigsville, VA 24430.
The family wishes to express a sincere "Thank you" to the Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah and to Jessica Miller for the loving care our dad.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
