Johanna E. Edwards

Johanna Emilie (Saupe) Edwards, 85, widow of Frederick White Edwards went to be with her Lord and join her husband in eternity, Friday morning, (June 5, 2009) at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law with whom she made her home.
Mrs. Edwards was born October 9, 1923 in New York City, a daughter of the late Waldemar M. and Emelia (Knoedel) Saupe.
Johanna was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving her country as a nurse during WWII. Following her honorable discharge from the military, Mrs. Edwards devoted her time as a fulltime mother and caregiver to her family. Prior to moving to the Stuarts Draft area to live with her daughter, Mrs. Edwards was a member of the Vienna Assembly of God and a volunteer at the Fairfax County Food Bank. She joined Victory Worship Center after moving to the area.
Johanna will be remembered for her selfless deeds of loving and working in her ministry and helping those in need.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by a brother, Rev. Walter Saupe, a sister, Ethel K. Kerlin and an infant grandson, Brian K. Harding.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald Frederick Edwards and his wife Marianna of Falls Church, VA and Allyn Walter Al Edwards and his wife Diane Marie of Newberg, OR; a daughter and son-in-law, Constance Emilie Connie Harding and her husband Emanuel David of Stuarts Draft; seven grandchildren, Amy L. Harding, Holly M. Canterbury, Katie C. Roby and her husband Nathaniel, Benjamin A. Edwards, Jacquelene N. Hall and her husband Daniel, Danielle R. Edwards and Shaun David Edwards; three great-grandchildren, Brooklyn A. Canterbury, Parker L. Roby and David C. Edwards.
A celebration of Johannas life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, (June 8, 2009) in the Victory Worship Center by Pastor Ray Eppard. Burial with Military Rites will be conducted at 12:00 noon, Wednesday, (June 10, 2009) in the Quantico National Cemetery in Triangle, VA
The family will receive friends this evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory or at other times the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Constance and David Harding, 175 Guthrie Road, Stuarts Draft.
It is suggested those desiring to make memorial contributions to the Samaritans Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, N.C. 28607-3000.
