Joe Anderson Isaac Wood, Jr., 65, of 6268 Rosehill Drive, passed away Friday, April 18, 2014, at the Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington.
Mr. Wood was born July 3, 1948 in Staunton, a son of the late Joe Anderson Isaac Wood, Sr. and Jean (Greaver) Wood Scherbeh.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Wood was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Wayne Wood and a special uncle, Jim Greaver.
Joe was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, George Mason University and was retired from the United States Federal District Court in DC as the Deputy Clerk for the Federal Judge. He loved history, especially about the Shenandoah Valley and the Civil War; he was an avid sports fan for the DC area teams and Joe was known as a studious worker, courteous to employees and supportive to his staff.
Survivors include two brothers, Henry Lee Wood of Staunton and Robert F. Bob Wood and his wife Crystal of Stuarts Draft; a sister, Bonnie Baggett and her husband Jesse, Sr. of Bronson, FL; four nephews, Steven Baggett and Jesse Baggett, Jr. both of Bronson, FL and Joseph Wood and Isaac Wood both of Stuarts Draft; a number of cousins and a number of great nieces and nephews also survive.
A Graveside service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2014 in the Augusta Memorial Park by Pastor Phillip Morgan.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
