Jo Anne Sabas, 75, wife of Joseph Balser, Sr., of 740 Parkersburg Turnpike, Staunton, passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2022 at her residence.

Mrs. Sabas was born in Baltimore, Maryland on July 24, 1946, daughter of the late Samuel J. Sabas and Helen A. (Schroeder) Sabas.

She was a graduate of the Catholic High School of Baltimore, Harford Junior College (now Harford Community College) of Harford County and the University of Maryland Baltimore County. She earned an Associate of Arts Degree from H.J.C. and a Bachelor of Arts degree from UMBC. Jo Anne was a member of the Engineers Club in Baltimore, St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Parish and the Augusta Health Breast Cancer Support Group. For many years, she had her own professional writing services business and was a Mary Kay Independent Consultant.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sabas was preceded in death by her late husband, George R. Makoujy, who passed away suddenly in 1991. Her two marriages to the same, Charles W. Palmore, Jr. ended sadly in divorce both times. Charles passed away in 2017.

Surviving, in addition to her beloved husband, is her sister, Cathy (Sabas) Maletz Cope and her husband, Wayne; a nephew and her forever joy, Daniel Maletz; three dear step-children, Sherry Balser Lantz, Joseph W. Balser, Jr., and Carolyn Balser Duff, along with their spouses and children.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 in Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.

A Roman Catholic Mass will be offered at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 7, 2022 at St. Francis of Assisi in Staunton.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 8, 2022 in New Cathedral Cemetery in Baltimore, Maryland.
