Obituary

Jimmy Leon Painter, 70, husband of Virginia (Walker) Painter of 4311 Cold Springs Road, went to be with the Lord, Friday, June 8, 2018.
Mr. Painter was born on June 5, 1948 in Lexington, VA a son of the late Elwood Franklin and Lorean (Falls) Painter.
Jimmy was a 1968 graduate of Riverheads High School, he joined the United States Army in 1968 where he served two years in Korea and he retired in 2008 from Wayn-Tex after 39 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and the outdoors. Jimmy loved his hunting dogs and cared for them like some people would their children. "Jimmy had a heart of gold, always willing to help anyone in need and he will be sorely missed by his family, friends, and neighbors."
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a great-niece, Tanya Smith.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 38 years are two sisters, Bonnie P. Clements and her husband Richard of Fairfield, and Janet P. Swisher and her husband Rodger of Staunton; a sister-in-law, Rachel Simpson and her husband Neal of Salisbury, Maryland; two brothers-in-law, James Walker and his wife Brenda of Federalsburg, Maryland, and Larry Walker of Goshen; a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; special friends, Albert and Matilda Tinsley, Glenn "Cooter" Patterson, Danny and Sissy Doyle, and Buddy and Carolyn Holbert.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2018 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Don Cash.
Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Mike Holbert, Shawn Swisher, Mickie Holbert, Paul Jones, Chris Jones, Austin Sanchez, and Matt Jones.
Honorary pallbearers will be his beloved rabbit running buddies.
It is suggested those desiring make memorial contributions to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105-1942.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton, is in charge of his arrangements.
