On Saturday morning, April 30, 2022, on his 74 ^th birthday, our beloved Jerry Anthony "Pete" Fitzgerald, passed away in the comfort of his home surrounded by family.

Pete was born in Albemarle County, Virginia, on April 30, 1948.

He was an avid Dale Earnhardt Sr. fan. Pete enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. His hobbies included fishing, camping, going to Myrtle Beach, and drinking an ice cold Bud Light on his front porch.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, the love of his life, Beverley Dell (Snyder) Fitzgerald; his children, Scott Fitzgerald and wife Katie, Brandy McCray and husband Mark, and Shane Fitzgerald and wife Jen; grandchildren, Amber Simmons and husband Ryan, Jason Bentley and wife GiGi, Hailey Simmons and husband Jeff, Brittany Bentley and partner Dustin Campbell, Gina Bentley, Brandon McCray and partner Haley, Cody McCray and partner Brittany, Shallyn Fitzgerald and partner Josh, Madison Fitzgerald, Justin Phillips, Trey Fitzgerald, Hailey Fitzgerald, Alex Phillips, Ryan Fitzgerald and Tyler Fitzgerald; great-grandchildren, Cooper, Brielle, Alaina, CJ, Genavieve, Ryder and Alexis; siblings, Pat Riggs, Carolyn Fitzgerald, Shirleen Grant and husband Larry, Mike Fitzgerald and wife Elizabeth, Steve Fitzgerald and wife Patty, Doug Fitzgerald and partner Joni; numerous nieces and nephews including a special nephew, Joseph Fitzgerald; and his best friend of 45 years, Maurice Davenport.

Mr. Fitzgerald was preceded in death by his parents, Malcolm Harrison Fitzgerald and Linda Funilda DᵉSantos; two sons, Michael Shane Fitzgerald and Kenny "Kendogg" Waitier; a brother, Russ Fitzgerald; three brothers-in-law, Claude "Tinkey" Snyder, Ralph Riggs, and Marvin Sorrells; a sister-in-law, Denise Fitzgerald; and his life-long friend of 53 years, Frankie Marcum.

The family would like to express a special "Thank you" to their neighbors, Steve and Jenny Liblick and Carl and Barbara Adams.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 6, 2022 at Faith Christian Church by Pastor Warren Knott.
