Jeremy Kenneth Hamilton, 42, of Fishersville, passed away on Tuesday morning, February 28, 2023 at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville. He was born in Waynesboro, Virginia September 10, 1980, the son of Kenneth Elvin Hamilton and Cindy Linton-Andrews.
Sergeant Hamilton was a Communications Technician and Radio Operator in support of Task Force Tarawa II MEB; Police Transition Senior Team Member and Vehicle Commander of Convoy Security in the United States Marine Corp where he served two tours to Fallujah, Iraq and one tour to Haditha, Iraq. He was discharged with Honorable Service of Combat Service Ribbons, Meritorious Mast and Letters of Recognition. He was a graduate of Wilson Memorial High School and Blue Ridge Community College with an Associates of Arts and Sciences degree.
Jeremy's greatest passion was for the outdoors where he enjoyed hiking portions of the Appalachian Trail. His favorite place of solitude was spending time on a mountain top playing his beloved flattop guitar and writing heartfelt lyrics.
Jeremy was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Lawrence and Mary Hamilton of Fishersville and Aunt, Robin Linton of Waynesboro.
In addition to his parents, Jeremy is survived by his step-mother, Robin Hamilton of Fishersville; step-father, Mike Andrews of Elkton; brother, Josh Hamilton and his wife Denise of Fishersville; maternal grandparents, Coy B. Linton, Jr. and Cora Sue Elmore Linton of Waynesboro; a step-brother, Chris Brown and his wife, Cherie of Waynesboro; a step-sister, Laura Humphries and her husband, Jason of Vesuvius; two uncles, Clifton Hamilton and his wife, Linda and Scott Linton; an aunt, Dorothy Hamilton; three nieces, Madison Humphreys, Michaela Humphreys and Gracie Hamilton; and a beautiful group of cousins.
The family would like to offer a special thanks to the UVA Surgical Trauma ICU staff.
