September 7, 1942 – July 23, 2023
Jeffrey Ray Lasher, 80, of Swoope, Virginia passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2023 at the Shenandoah Hospice House in Fishersville.
Mr. Lasher was born in Staunton, Virginia on September 7, 1942, son of Mamie Elizabeth (Hays) Lasher and the late Frank Lyle Lasher.
Jeffrey was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving on the U.S.S. Plymouth Rock. Mr. Lasher retired as a teacher within the Augusta County School System, teaching at both Craigsville Elementary School and Beverley Manor Middle School. He was also the GED testing Chief Examiner.
In addition to his father, Mr. Lasher was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Faye (Lasher) Flynn and his first wife, Nancy (Lyle) Lasher.
Surviving, in addition to his mother of Craigsville, are two sons, Jeffrey Dean Lasher of Timberville and Joel Lasher and his fiancé, Danielle L. Shelton of Richmond; a daughter, Kelsey E. Lasher of Staunton; two nephews, Jonathan Flynn and Jason Flynn; and the mother of Joel and Kelsey, Carol Lasher.
A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 30, 2023 at St. Paul's Methodist Church in Craigsville by Pastor Mike Herring and Pastor Cody Adkins. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.
Burial will follow in Craigsville Community Cemetery.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
