Jeff Dollarhide
STAUNTON:
Jeff Dollarhide, 55 of 318 Campbell Street, passed away Monday, January 3, 2011 in Augusta Health in Fishersville.
Mr. Dollarhide was born in Belleville, Illinois, the son of the late Eleanor Eastwood (Gilbert) Dollarhide Sanger VanGilder. Jeff was also preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Simon J. and Eva M. Gilbert.
Jeff was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation. He worked as a security guard for Burris Refrigeration in Lyndhurst where he enjoyed his job and was a dedicated employee. He was a member of the Cherryvale United Methodist Church and a former volunteer fire fighter for the Stuarts Draft Fire Department. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and doing for others.
Survivors include a sister and brother-in-law, Penny (Dollarhide) Knapp and her husband Mike of Staunton with whom he made his home; his step-father, Rev. Robert VanGilder; a special nephew, Jeramie M. Knapp and his wife Amanda R.; special great nephew, Nathan Knapp and special great niece, Natalle Knapp all of Staunton; a number of aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
Active pallbearers will be Mike Knapp, Jeramie Knapp, Jim Neff, Ike Knapp, Billy Johnson, Jessee Robinson, Nathan Knapp and Natalle Knapp.
Honorary pallbearers will be his cousins and his co-workers from Burris Refrigeration.
A celebration of life will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 7, 2011 in the Church of God of Prophecy on Campbell Street by Pastor David Smith and Jeffs step-father, Rev. Robert VanGilder.
Burial will follow in Thornrose Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9:00 p.m. Thursday, January 6, 2011 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home of his sister and brother-in-law, Penny and Mike Knapp of 318 Campbell Street.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
