Obituary

Jeanne (Wolohan) Lambert, 81, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, in love's embrace.

Jeanne was born in Washington, D.C. on June 2, 1943, to the late Marian Hazel Tripp and Eugene Charles Wolohan.

Jeanne was always an advocate for the Deaf and hard of hearing. She served as a previous officer of Maryland Deaf Senior Citizens and was active with the Maryland Association for the Deaf and the Arizona Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. She loved her teachers and classmates at Kendall School for the Deaf and Gallaudet University, many who became cherished lifelong friends.

As an avid swimmer, Jeanne missed qualifying for the 1961 Deaf Olympics in Helsinki, Finland by 1/10th of a second.

She loved traveling, having visited all 50 states and exploring amazing destinations like France, Italy, the Caribbean, East Africa, Russia, and Greece.

She also loved animals (often looking after her granddogs and granddonkeys), loved rooting for Navy, and had an insatiable love of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. There was never a cloud in the sky that Jeanne didn't try to find a shape in.

We will always carry her memory in our hearts.

Jeanne is survived by her daughter, Justina Sutphin (Don); son, Jovian Lambert (Susan); and granddaughter, Juliet Adams Lambert. She also leaves her sister, Joanna Talbert (Gary); brother, Matthew Wolohan (Diane); and stepsisters, Lois Hoover and Carol Hoover.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Michael Wolohan.

There will be a celebration of her life at a later date.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
