February 17, 1937 – February 27, 2023
Jean Elizabeth (Tyers) Callison, 86, widow of James Waller Callison, Jr. of Greenville, passed away on Monday, February 27, 2023 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.
Mrs. Callison was born in Greenwich, Connecticut on February 17, 1937, a daughter of the late Richard Tyers Jr. and Eugenia Tyers.
Jean was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church, the Tuesday Club, and a founding member of the Staunton Country Club. She was an avid and excellent golfer and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband of fifty-five years, Mrs. Callison was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Tyers and a sister, Lynne Tyers.
Surviving, is a daughter, Susan "Susie" Greer and her husband, Tim of Perry, GA; two sons, James "Jimmy" W. Callison, III and his wife Debra "Debbie" of Staunton and R. Scott Callison, Sr. and his wife, Jennifer of Mount Kisco, NY; six grandchildren, Mitch Greer and his wife, Shelley, Kyle Greer and his wife, Candace, Jennifer Kiser and her husband, Scott, R. Scott Callison, Jr., Marshall Callison, and Clayton Callison; great-grandchildren, Ansley and Will Greer, and James, Kade and Jackson Greer; a brother, Robert Tyers; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 2, 2023 in Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery by Reverend John Peterson.
The family will receive friends following the service.
It is suggested that those desiring make memorial contributions to Bethel Presbyterian Church, 563 Bethel Green Road, Staunton, VA 24401 or by planting a tree through the sympathy store at www.coffmanfuneralhome.net.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
