Jean (Mullins) Clemmer-Eavers, 88, formerly of Cold Springs Road, passed away, Friday, October 17, 2014 in Rutherfordton Regional Medical Center, Rutherfordton, NC.
Mrs. Eavers was born on August 30, 1926, in Huntersville, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Esau Washington and Vesta (Ryder) Mullins.
Jean attended Mount Vernon Church of the Brethren. She was a member of the Stuarts Draft V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary Post 9339, and the Stuarts Draft Rescue Squad. Mrs. Eavers was self-employed in the retail business, enjoyed carpentry and doing volunteer work in her community.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Eavers was preceded in death by her first husband, John Rodney Clemmer, Sr.; second husband, Herbert C. Eavers; a daughter, Sandra (Clemmer) Smith; a son John Rodney Clemmer, Jr.; four brothers, and two sisters.
Jean is survived by a daughter, Carol R. Toney and her husband Don of Rutherfordton, NC; a step daughter, Dottie Hite of Staunton; two brothers, Hewey Mullins of Stuarts Draft, and Douglas Mullins of Arizona; four grandchildren ;three great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 20, 2014 at Hebron Presbyterian Church Cemetery by Pastor Charles Mullins.
Honorary pallbearers will be friends attending the service.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
At the request of Mrs. Eavers, there will be no public viewing.
