Irene (Zimmerman) Cacciapaglia, 89, widow of James Erasmus Cacciapaglia, of Radcliff, Kentucky and formerly of Staunton passed away Thursday, October 11, 2018 at the home of her daughter in Radcliff, Kentucky.
Mrs. Cacciapaglia was born on February 2, 1929 in Augusta County, Virginia, a daughter of the late Roy, Sr. and Katherine (Call) Zimmerman.
Janie was an active member of the St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters, and a charter member of the Fraternal Order of the Staunton Elks. She retired after thirty years of service from Leggett's Department Store, where she was employed as a purchaser and department manager.
In addition to her husband of 67 years and her parents, Mrs. Cacciapaglia was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Camilla Jane Mullins; three brothers, Franklin Zimmerman, Douglas Zimmerman, and Roy Zimmerman, Jr.; and two sisters, Sally Hall and Shirley Berlanga.
Surviving is a daughter, Camilla C. Mullins and her husband Gordon of Kentucky; a son, Donato O. Cacciapaglia and his partner Jim Smith of Florida; a grandson, James Russell Mullins of Williamsburg, VA; two brothers, George Zimmerman and his wife Jackie of Maryland and David Zimmerman and his wife Janet of Charlottesville; a sister, Kathy Milliser and her husband Charlie of Waynesboro; three sisters-in-law; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 17, 2018 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 18, 2018 in St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church by Father Joseph Wamala.
Burial will be private in Thornrose Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Gordon Mullins, James R. Mullins, David Zimmerman, Joey Berlanga, Mark King, and Cole Berlanga.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton, is in charge of her arrangements.
